Interface help

Choose a section to expand it. Use Close or Escape to return.

Help opens moo commands and topics. Browse explores moo objects. Both are available once connected.

Getting around

  • Tab and Shift+Tab move between controls. The first links jump to this guide, the transcript, and command input.
  • F2 opens Quick access without replacing your command draft. Type an action or tool name, choose with Up/Down, and press Enter. Escape cancels. The Quick access… button does the same; on phones, it shows the current view’s name.
  • F6 moves through the top controls, transcript, command input, and tool groups, then back to the top controls. Shift+F6 reverses that order. Entering the transcript resumes your previous line, or the newest line on first entry.

Commands

Type a moo command in the command input and press Enter to send. Long commands wrap visually; pasted line breaks are removed.

  • When suggestions are closed, Up/Down recall previous commands. For a wrapped command, move the caret to its start before recalling older history. Down reaches the end of your command before moving to newer history.
  • Page Up/Page Down scroll the transcript while focus and your draft stay in command input. Paging back to the bottom resumes following new output.
  • Suggestions may appear as you type. Down/Up choose a suggestion and Tab completes it without sending. Tab uses the first suggestion if you have not chosen one; when none are showing, it requests completion. Enter sends your current input. Escape dismisses suggestions. Tab then leaves the input without completing. Shift+Tab moves backward without completing. Alt+Down also requests completion.

On touch screens, focusing the input reveals punctuation, completion, Escape, and history buttons. Swipe the row to reach more keys.

Reading the transcript

From command input, Shift+Tab reaches the transcript. Your previous line is active immediately, or the newest line on first entry. Incoming output keeps your review position.

  • Up/Down move one output line; Page Up/Page Down move the active line by one screen. A line taller than the screen stays active while you page through it.
  • Home/End jump to the oldest/latest available line. Escape returns to input.
  • Alt+J from the terminal jumps to the start of pending output, or the latest line if none is pending. On Mac, use Option+J. The same action is available through Quick access and the transcript button.

A line follows the moo’s line breaks; wrapping to fit your screen does not create another navigation step. Tab or Escape moves straight to command input. F6 continues to move between workspace areas.

Reconnecting and earlier output

Reconnecting restores available output from your earlier session. Your previous reading position is not saved across connections. Older lines eventually become unavailable.

Jump to start of restored output reaches the oldest available output from your earlier session. Find it in Quick access, or on the transcript button before new output arrives.

Jump to new output moves to the beginning of the latest summarized response, or the earliest pending output. It does not mark messages as read or start reading aloud.

Tools and sessions

Tools open beside the terminal on larger screens; phones show one view at a time. Use Quick access to switch views. On tool tabs, arrows select, Home and End select the first and last tab, Enter opens, and Delete closes. Control+Shift with arrow keys moves between groups from a tab. Use the group’s layout menu or Quick access to arrange tools; focus a divider and use arrows to resize it, or Shift+arrows for larger steps.

Enter a topic in Help or an object in Browse, then choose Go or press Enter. Follow links to explore; Back returns to the previous page. With a keyboard, Tab moves between controls and links. Open a separate copy opens another tool with its own navigation history.

Verb code and property values open as read-only content. If you have permission, Edit opens an editor. Save editor changes with Ctrl+S (Command+S on Mac) or Save, then check the transcript for the server’s response. Escape leaves the editor for its tab; F6 moves between workspace areas. Unsaved drafts do not survive a page reload.

The session menu contains connection and layout settings. Switch session returns to login and keeps a character’s moo session running. Guest sessions end when disconnected. Connecting as a different character closes the previous character’s tools, including unsaved edits.

Log out forgets the saved login in this browser. For a character, the moo session and its history remain available unless you also choose to end the session and delete its history.

Using a screen reader

Use your screen reader’s browse or scan mode to read this guide, Help topics, and Browse content. Use Tab to reach tool content after its navigation controls. Suggestions and loaded results are announced as they become available.

A screen reader can announce the full transcript line as you navigate. There is no Enter action on a plain output line; use your screen reader’s usual reading commands to explore its text.

In a screen reader’s browse or scan mode, arrows use its reading cursor; the app’s highlighted line may stay in place. To use the app’s arrow navigation, switch to focus mode or turn scan mode off. In Orca, press the Orca modifier with A twice for sticky focus mode. This stays on when you open other tools. Press Orca modifier with A once to return to browse mode for reading Help or Browse. If you lock browse mode instead, switch back to focus mode before typing. Without a mode lock, Orca can switch automatically as you move between controls and text.

In Orca, unlock browse mode before closing this guide.

In Orca, if command input stays silent, press Tab, then Shift+Tab, then Orca+A.

Screen-reader announcements

Announce output to screen reader controls automatic output announcements. The transcript buttons appear when reached with Tab. Quick access also offers Pause output announcements or Resume output announcements, including while using a tool.

Short output is announced automatically. Large responses and restored history receive summaries. Use Jump to new output or Jump to start of restored output to navigate to that text.

When output announcements are paused, connection summaries and feedback for your actions still announce.
